YesImOnline is a simple email client that works with your
existing email client (or stand alone) to help you respond
rapidly to important email. It also lets you see when your
important contacts are online. (Strangely one emails
differently knowing this, for example I don't ask someone a
question at 10:00 p.m. unless I happen to know they are working
late)
In brief,
it makes your email more 'immediate' almost like instant
messaging, without the problems inherent in instant messaging
(namely that IM wastes a lot of time and interrupts your work
flow)

is a bit like a virtual office. It lets you feel the presence of
your colleagues and accelerates important work by decreasing the
round trip time communicating with those key people.
