Have you tried the caldav login test instructions as per:
http://netwinsite.com/surgemail/help/caldav.htm
(that is the primary checklist! and should work if that works)
If you have made significant changes in your server configuration in terms of renaming servers / changing mirroring configuration etc it is possible you may need to remove the file sw_cloud.dat in the surgeweb work folder (find using "tellmail path user@domain") and in the mailstore folder (find using "tellmail path user@domain" subdir xfile)
Although none of that sounds like the cause of the error you are seeing.
