I seem to have lost a few (or more?) user aliases during migration.
To migrate our SurgeMail server to a new machine, I did the following.
1. I installed surgemail_74a_solaris_i64.tar.gz on the new server to set up any extraneous parameters.
2. The old server was still running 7.3e2-2 (Solaris). I copied everything to the new server by running couple of rsyncs of /usr/local/surgemail, /var/surgemail and /etc/surgemail.ini while the old server was running. Then I stopped the old server (with surgemail_stop.sh) and ran a final rsync (with --delete) on all three sources to grab the final state. All files are owned by mail:mail on the new server. I also copied the legal archive local directory.
3. I figured that any and all files required by 7.3e2-2 should have been copied, so I postponed upgrading the new server back to 7.4.
Everything seems to work as expected, except that two users have reported that they lost alias email addresses and were unable to login and/or receive email on the alias address.
What might have gone wrong? What do I need to check?
Thanks,
Chris
