Hello,
I have a small Surgemail server on my intranet that isn't exposed to
the outside world at all. It's been using a self-signed certificate
for years, but we're having issues with Chrome/Edge browsers, so I
decided to try Surgemail's LetsEncrypt support. After turning it on
and restarting I ran the "tellmail ssl_update" command and got this
error:
Challenge: error: DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up A for
<mail.mydomain.com> - check that a DNS record exists for this
domain
acme_do_auth failed <mail.mydomain.com>
There is no public DNS record for the mailhost, as it sits on a
private network and isn't exposed. Is that situation simply not
compatible with LetsEncrypt? Or is there a way around it?
Thanks!
Bob
