SurgeMail 3.0 Email Server Provides Advanced Security, Virus Protection, Groupware and Ease of Management

Auckland, New Zealand, April 11th, 2005 - NetWin Ltd., developer of advanced server software for Internet and Intranet providers, today released SurgeMail 3.0. As NetWin's flagship product, SurgeMail is a full-featured, enterprise-class mail server deployed by thousands of customers in the United States and around the globe. The new version of SurgeMail provides customers with enhanced spam control, SurgePlus groupware, and extended management tools. These new enhancements provide enterprise-class functionality at prices attractive for small and medium size businesses and home-based users. SurgeMail's feature rich structure meets the needs of small and medium sized businesses as well as providing a fully scalable solution for large enterprises.

Eliminate Spam with SPF
With the introduction of an extended "Sender Permitted From" (SPF) system, NetWin has significantly reduced spam for users. The new implementation enables strict SPF control to be put in place through the use of default domain rules, greylisting and a unique allow system. SurgeMail's SPF system efficiently copes with domains that have not yet setup their DNS entries for SPF. In addition, SurgeMail now provides for Spam URL Real time Block Lists (SURBL). SRURBL extends the RBL concept to include detection of known spamming URLs in email content. These new features compliment the existing friends challenge response and content filtering systems already available in SurgeMail.

"The selection of SurgeMail was an easy one, even in its earlier stage of development," said Mark Geisinger, president of Resolute Solutions, Inc. "In my judgment, there was no competing commercial product that matched SurgeMail in the areas of flexibility, features, licensing cost, and my admittedly high expectation of stability based on our DNews experience. SurgeMail's feature set has steadily evolved, making it increasingly easy to meet the ever growing demands of our customers. That makes us look good, and we appreciate that."

Groupware for Sharing
SurgePlus provides a number of new groupware features for SurgeMail including mini websites, calendaring and calendar sharing, photo sharing and file sharing. SurgePlus provides both a web interface and a free client utility for faster photo uploads, extended calendar prompting and the ability to share files in a variety of ways. Users can set up auto-synchronization of folders or files and share via the Web using a public or private URL for files stored on mail servers.

Management Tool Set
New tools for user self-management, domain administrator management and system management provide ease of use and flexibility for users. Domain and system administrators now have the tools for graphing trends within all key email and system resources, producing a range of usage reports and quota management of aliases and mailing lists. Enhancements for the user include two new templates in five languages, web based control of mailing lists, email aliases and a variety of new spam new controls.

"We are fully committed to developing a product that meets the changing needs of our customers. SurgeMail 3.0 was developed in response to continuous collaboration with our customers," said Ralph Pugmire, managing director at NetWin. "SurgeMail has gained appeal from a broad range of customers, from ISPs and enterprise companies to small businesses. We're excited to release SurgeMail 3.0 and we're confident our customers will achieve higher performance and greater productivity with the new features."

As the next generation mail server, SurgeMail combines features, performance and ease of use into a single integrated product. SurgeMail supports an unlimited number of users and domains, virus scanning, spam filtering, integrated Webmail access, integrated WAP support, and fast browser based administration tools. SurgeMail also includes optional features such as instant messaging, discussion forums, and chat modules.

SurgeMail is available for all major platforms including Windows NT/2K, MACOSX and UNIX (Linux, Solaris, etc.), and supports all the standard protocols such as IMAP, POP3, SMTP, SSL, ESMTP.
