No, for the clean UI it is no longer a message preview. The clean ui is a three column display that always includes a full message display. The standard display still has the same options it always had but in the theme menu, and the old ui still has the options under: options - preferences - screen layout when you click on a folder, you have to scroll to the bottom to get the unread \ total. can this be displayed in the header or at the top of the list. it takes extra time when checking folders?
